World Hypnotism Day: Last Minute Preparations

0

Tomorrow is the big day, and if you’ve been preparing you should have an event planned to showcase Hypnosis and your skills as a Hypnotist.

Equally as important, and perhaps even more important is what you did to get people to attend.  Getting ‘butts in seats’ is one of the hardest things to do and requires a substantial amount of marketing and follow up.

So what you should be doing in these final hours leading up to your event is massive follow up.  This of course assumes you got contact information for everyone you invited to your event.

I’ll talk about the critical importance of list building and in an upcoming podcast, but for now, I’m going to assume you have contact info for at least some of the people you invited.

This is the time to send them a reminder.  I would actually have already sent at least one this week, and ideally use different media to reach them, such as email, fax, postal mail, and in some cases a phone call.

If you have a really big event, you could use a voice broadcast service to send a personal reminder.

You always want to personalize these reminders.  People respond to their name.  Even when they know it’s done by a mail merge or email service, it’s still nice to see "Dear Craig" on the message.

Send out all the logistics and make it EASY for them to find it.  Here’s what I like to send:

- Name of the event and topics to be covered
- Who is presenting the event
- Time
- Date including the day
- Location with full address
- Provide links to a map.  I prefer Google Maps, but you can use what ever you like.
- phone numbers
- web URL of my site with the information
- web URL of the venue if one is available
- Info on how they can ask questions

The point here is to help  them remember what this is all about, and give them any possible piece of information they need to be sure they get there.

Obviously this is easily done with email, especially if you have an email service.

If you have invited the media, I would personally call them to make sure they have the correct time and location details.

Don’t leave anything to chance.  You want a packed house for your event.

Good luck and have a great event.
