The “What Do You Charge?” Question

What do you say when the first question from a potential client is how much it costs?

First the most important principle of what you charge is this… If you compete on price your become nothing more than a commodity. NEVER compete on price!

If you are getting this question from prospects, it means you have not positioned yourself as different than anyone else in the phone book.

One way to solve this problem by using a 2-step marketing process.  I’ll write a post about the basics of 2-step marketing soon.

Also, if you have programs instead of single hypnosis sessions, what you offer will be so different that there is no comparison.

Chiropractors overcame this kind of question by using the "report of findings" procedure.  They wouldn’t tell you anything about price on the phone.

The prospective client came in for a "Free Injury Evaluation" or some similar name, then the Doctor would give them the report of findings and recomended a treatment program.  They also usually provided a payment plan to make it easier for the prospect to pay.

This was a very successful marketing strategy for that industry.

Now go get some clients!
